Ampato
First Option - Ceremonial route 5 days
Day 1 - Transfer Arequipa - Colca- Cabanaconde
The ascent is made from the north face of the mountain,
departing from the village of Cabanaconde ( Colca
Canyon ).
Day 2
With the help of some donkeys we climb up for 7 hours we make camp on the shores of the
Mucurca lake, where we can enjoy this spectacular scenery.
Day 3
This day we camp at 5,200m at the edge of the snow cap. Up
until this point it is possible to travel with pack animals, which
carry some of the equipment.
Day 4
We leave early to make the ascent to the summit, which
takes about 5 or 6 hours. We head back down and spend the third night
at the foot of the mountain.
Day 5
After a late breakfast we return to the
village of Cabanaconde and transfer to Arequipa . This takes the whole day, although of course
the return trip can also be made in 2 days, depending on each person's condition.

About the porters for Ampato the costs is US $ 90. Each porter (normally we don't use porters), about what you need to bring:
- Backpack

- Warm troussers

- Personal medicines

- Water bottles (minimum 4 lt.)

About the items to carry normally the guide carry the cooking gear and the food for cooking and his own equipment and the passengers carry the own gear it means all the list about, if you need a porter for a half of your equipment you need only one for 2 people if you want to carry nothing you need one porter each (in Arequipa is not porters like in the Inca trail, here the porter is another guide but normally we don't use porters).
