Colca Valley , Colca Canyon , Toro Muerto Petrogliphs Stone engravings 5 days / 4 nights
This is the highlight trek in the region. We go by 4x4 from Arequipa and to the petrogliphs of Toro Muerto, crossing the dunes of the Atacama desert (one of the most beautiful deserts in the world). After crossing 160 Km we arrive to Toro Muerto. We will see a variety of more than 5000 volcanic stones that belongs to pre-Incan times. After exploring the area we take a round to Huambo, Cabanaconde , and Colca Canyon by the way of Sihuas, also passing the Punta Colorada along the way, where we'll stop to enjoy different dishes prepared with "Shrimps of the Majes River." The 240 Km tour to Cabanaconde passes through the little Volcanoes valley, providing us a view of 6 volcanoes, 2 very closes to the road volcanoes.
Day 1
We visit the petrogliphs of Toro Muerto, Huambo village, and after 9 hours by 4WD we arrive to Cabanaconde ( 5:30-6:00 pm ). Dinner. We will sleep in a very comfortable hotel.
Day 2
We begin the Colca trek, descending 1357 meters in 4 hours, a 8 Km journey. Lunch in "Gloria House," situated in the town of San Juan de Chuccho.Then we pass Malata and continue to the Oasis of Sangalle (1850 m), arriving in 2 hours. Enjoy the pool and relax in the bungalows.
Day 3
We begin our walk very early up to Cabanaconde, arriving 4 hours later (1400 meters). After arriving to Cabanaconde we have breakfast and then head to the Cruz Del Condor to see the condors flying. After that we'll visit the Colca Valley , where we'll have a commanding view to the towns of Pinchollo, Maca, Yanque and Chivay. Other viewpoints, such as Antahuilque and Mollepunku, provide views to pre-Incan terraces and above-ground graves that belong to the Collagua period. Lunch in our LODGE Tradicion or Colca Lodge hot springs , after relax in the hot Springs we will have a free time to enjoy the different relaxing atractives of the lodge, dinner and sleep in exellent beds.
Day 4
Breakfast, and little walk for the ancient ruins of Uyo Uyo, back to our car and then back to Arequipa , stopping at the viewpoint the Volcanoes of Ubinas,Pichu pichu, Misti,Chachani, Ampato,Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca and the source of the Amazon Mount Mismi, along the way. Before arriving in Arequipa , we pass by the national reserve of Aguada Blanca y Salinas, where we'll observe llamas, alpacas and vicugnas. Passing around the backs of volcanoes Misti and Chachani, we arrive in Arequipa between 1 or 2 pm of the fouth day.
