COLCA BIKING tours

Skill level: moderate / intermediate

Day 1

We start the day in Arequipa by picking you up at your hotel at 5 am, then we travel by bus which also brings the bikes to Colca Canyon. The car (van) leaves us at an altitude of 4600m. We descend on the bikes on a very nice trail with impressive views of the Colca valley and land terraces cultivated by farmers. We have lunch in Chivay and a little rest. Then we visit the local market, after we continue our biking excursion at Colca valley, visiting very interesting villages like Coporaque, Ichupampa, arqueological places like the Colcas and the Ocolle amphitheater were we will admire the wonderful ancient terraces presently being farmed by the Collaguas as they have for centuries. Then in our way to Yanque, we relax at the hot springs of Chacapi and then we check in at our Hotel Lodge in Yanque for the night.

Day 2

After a good breakfast, we start our bike trip in Colca Valley visiting the villages of Achoma and Maca. At midday we meet our car (van) at the beautiful and interesting view point of Choquetico, were we can appreciate the "piedras maqueta" (hand carved stones) and the hanging tombs. We visit different look out points and we have a picnic. Then we take our car (van) to Cabanaconde village and we hike down the Colca Canyon for a couple of hours of trekking and we return to our hotel in Cabanaconde for a good night's sleep.

Day 3

Early breakfast and we visit La Cruz del Condor. After an 8km. ride by car (van) we start biking downhill and we go at Cruz Del Condor, here we stay one hour to admire the condor's flight. We meet our car and driver and we return to Chivay. After lunch and a little rest we return to Arequipa city and we drop you off at your hotel.

  • Difficulty: Medium (if you require expertise on altitude changes our guide is ready to give tips and advice)
  • Altitude 3,260mt. to 4,900mt
  • Three-day Mountain Bike Tour at the Colca canyon
  • Dates: Once a week. (Normally Tuesdays, please ask)
  • Location: Tours depart from your hotel in Arequipa
  • Time: 07:00 Departure at your hotel in Arequipa
  • Return Details: This tour returns to the original departure point at approximately 5:00 pm on day number 3
